Affiliate Marketing Program

1. What is an "Affiliate Marketing Program"?

   Affiliate marketing is a performance-based, cost-per-action (CPA) ad method that rewards affiliate sites with a percentage of sales based on their referrals. Your banner ad, product information, or text link to your site is posted on an affiliate site. Visitors to that site who click on these banners and links arrive at your site. Affiliate management software tracks where the customers came from and what they bought. You pay a commission to your affiliates based only on what they sold.

2. Does PBC handle all of the transactions or do I have to get a merchant account and start taking orders at my website?

   PBC handles all transactions through their shopping cart/order processing system. PBC offers each Affiliate a backoffice that contains a Transaction History Report, you will be able to view your transaction history for all of your client purchases.

3. Do I have to have my own website to be an Affiliate or Reseller?

   No, you'll use a hyperlink with your unique Affiliate # (found on your admin page/back office):This link can be place in:
   Email Messages, Newsletters, eZines or webpages.

   This hyperlink will direct the reader to the PBC website and place a cookie on the reader's browser that contains your ID number. Within your PBC's website, they have placed coding which reads that cookie letting them know that the visitor came from you.

4. Why Are Affiliate Programs So Popular?

   Many online sellers find that affiliate networks generate more traffic and business than all other types of advertising and promotion. In case you aren't familiar with the concept, "affiliate marketing (or programs)" is also known as... "associate marketing," "re-seller programs," "referral programs," "partnership programs," "bounty programs" and "revenue- sharing programs." An affiliate marketing program lets you set up an automated way for webmasters to sign up as your affiliates and be paid a set commission when they help you sell or promote your products or services.

5. How does Affiliate Manager track visitors and sales?

   When an Affiliate sends traffic to your site, the link they embed into their website is encoded with their unique Affiliate ID. When the user clicks through the link, a cookie is placed on the users machine (providing the user has cookies enabled) that expires after 180 days. If cookies are disabled, Affiliates can still get credit for the sale if the user makes a purchase within the same session. Aff_Manager will attempt to match up the user's IP address at checkout time.
   
   All visits are recorded and are available on the Affiliate Traffic Report (all stats are real time). If the visitor decides to make a purchase, he/she will go through the checkout process. Before the transaction is completed, the application will check if a cookie exists (or via IP matching). If so, the sale is credited to the Affiliate, and their commission is recorded in real time. All sales are recorded and are available on the Commission Report (all stats are real time).

6. My web host, or our company's web server does not support ColdFusion. Can I still use Aff_Manager?

   If you do not have ColdFusion™ on your server, we are pleased to offer our clients the Aff_Manager Hosting Service.. This will allow you to run Aff_Manager from our servers and all you need to do is integrate a few lines of code into your web pages. This service costs $397 for the software, a one-time $197 setup fee, and $19.95 per month. Your setup fee includes the setup of the software on our servers and integration into one (1) back-end payment solution. You never pay for upgrades as long as you are a customer. If you ever move your site to a server that has ColdFusion™, you'll be able to migrate your Affiliate Program over without having to buy another copy of Aff_Manager! Even though the application is on our server, you still own your own copy of the software!

7. Will Aff_Manager work with my shopping cart?

   Aff_Manager can be integrated into ANY Shopping cart you have installed on your OWN server (provided you have access to the Shopping cart's source code.) This includes any cart written in ColdFusion, PHP, JavaScript, ASP, Perl, etc. In addition, Aff_Manager can be integrated into almost every third party shopping cart.

8. How does Aff_Manager integrate into my web site to track visits and sales?

   There is a custom ColdFusion tag that is integrated into your shopping cart and web pages to record both visits and sales. Instructions are detailed in the user guide. You can accomplish this yourself, even if you have very limited technical ability.

9. How difficult is it to install Aff_Manager?

   The installation process requires only a little expertise.
   
   (1) You need to know how to copy files to your web server
   (2) You need to know how to register a ColdFusion datasource - either on your own server, or through your web host provider.
   (3) Once that is completed, you simply enter in the setup URL string into your web browser to run the setup routine.
   (4) Things get a little tricky when your shopping cart is not ColdFusion. There are alternate solutions mapped out, and explicit instructions on how to implement the solution. You will need to edit two templates, and simply replace some URL addresses within the template. You can use Notepad or Dreamweaver, or some other text editor.

10. What database can I use with Aff_Manager?

    Aff_Manager comes bundled with an Access 2000 database for ease of distribution. Aff_Manager will run great with this database; however, in a high-volume production environment, it is recommended that you use an enterprise database application like SQL Server. We prefer and recommends using SQL Server 2000, but any relational database such as MySQL or Oracle will work just fine with Aff_Manager.

11. Does Aff_Manager support pay-per-click commissions?

    Not exactly, we call it pay-per-visit. Merchants can pay commissions to affiliates who drive traffic to their site. Only one commission is generated per user, per day. This differs from the Pay-Per-Click commissions, which can be inaccurate and a source of fraud. Aff_Manager does NOT have Pay-Per-Click capabilities.

12. Does Aff_Manager support other currencies?

    Aff_Manager will use the date and currency settings for your locale, or any locale you specify. So our friends in the US, Canada, Australia, Great Britain, Germany, etc. can run their Affiliate Program with their country's currency.

    Yes, as long as the database is accessible from each of the web sites.

    In order to do effective research for many classes you will need more than an Internet search tool. You will need the type of high quality sources that you typically find in a library. The task of converting a bricks and mortar library to a digital one, has been talked about for years. We are a long way from and entire library (including all the text in every resource) being available online. However, the following virtual libraries and library sites can help! We suggest that you build a flyer with your specific products and services listed and pass them out in your local area as 1 way the help build your clientele. Another way is to place a signature file in all of your outgoing emails to share with everyone what you do and how to contact you. Your friends and family would be happy to help promote your product or services if they know what you are doing.
